Shri Ajay Madhukar Mhetre, an accomplished Indian Telecommunications Service (ITS) officer of the 1998 batch, currently serves as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), one of the premier subsidiaries of Coal India Limited. He assumed charge as CVO on December 26, 2022, at the WCL headquarters in Nagpur. With over 24 years of extensive experience, Shri Mhetre has a profound background in mobile communication and telecom regulatory bodies, including the Telecom Enforcement Resource & Monitoring (TERM) cells. Holding a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics from Nagpur, he cleared the UPSC Engineering Services Examination in 1996 before joining the Department of Telecom in 1998. Over his career, he has served in various capacities across Maharashtra and Bihar, notably in Nagpur, Amravati, and Patna. Before his current role at WCL, he was Director (Rural) at the Bihar LSA, Patna. As CVO, Shri Mhetre plays a crucial role in promoting integrity, transparency, and preventive vigilance within WCL, aligning with the highest standards of good governance under the Ministry of Coal. His leadership is marked by a commitment to ethical administration and fostering a culture of accountability within the organization.
